As interest in psychedelic experiences grows, so does the need for people who can support others safely and responsibly.
This course offers a structured introduction to psychedelic sitting — the role of providing calm, non-directive support before, during, and after altered states of consciousness.
Over five weeks, you’ll explore:
The course brings together three complementary perspectives:
This course will draw on the extensive work of Richard and Jo in licensed psychedelic theraputic settings as well as nauralistic environments. It will bring to life the skills and knowledge contained in Julian’s seminal works Getting Higher: The Manual of Psychedelic Ceremony and Trip Sitting: The Art and Science of Holding Psychedelic Space. This course is the perfect for those interested in joining The Fellowship of Psychonauts, especially people who will be joining our next training retreat in November 2026.

This training is open to anyone with prior psychedelic. experience, who is keen to deepen their relationship with supported experiences. Our community consists of members from a wide range of backgrounds such as nursing, property development, psychiatry, accountancy, social work, occupational therapy, software engineering, therapy, breath & body work, psychedelic research, mental health and neurodiversity advocacy, teaching, shamanic practitioners, occultism, musicians, osteopaths, family therapy, coaching TV & film and much more. We also welcome existing space holders and psychedelic researchers who wish to learn from and contribute to the community.
To date we have offered some type of financial support to over 50% to our participants. We will invite applications for standard pricing in the first round of applications (1st June). Once we have covered the operating costs for the retreat, we will open up to those who may need more support. Supported places are likely to be oversubscribed, so there will be a weighting criteria. We really encourage people to pay what they can, to support the ongoing intentions of the Fellowship and community members who do not have much disposable income, savings, home ownership etc. Such as those working in the public sector. This approach supports diversity and connectedness within the community
Yes at least one prior psychedelic experience is a prerequisite for the training. Within the Fellowship, we believe that people learn best in relationship & from experience. Our suggestion is that would be sitters are in relationship with the medicine/experience they are hoping to support others with. We will also be pitching any teaching & support at a level that assumes some prior psychedelic experience. See Nurse Jo @Hypogeum if you are seeking your first psychedelic experience.
At present the opportunities for paid, legal work with psychedelics are minimal. Rather than risk enticing participants onto the training, with false promises of future transferability to the market place. We prefer to present it as an opportunity to deepen your relationship with supported psychedelic experiences. By the end of the week, everyone will be competent to assist someone ceremony, who has more experience, such as the lead facilitators. We will support you through tools and approaches that are a core foundation of the training, to think about your scope of practice and experience after the retreat and where you might fit into the wider psychedelic infrastructure from there.
Previous students have gone on to be involved in a whole range of different, supported psychedelic experiences, on their own or with others within the community.
